Mass Timber Products: A New and Emerging Sustainable, Carbon-Efficient Building Material

This seminar will address the idea of wood use in construction from an engineering and architectural viewpoint. Topics covered will include sustainably designing projects using mass timber, the products and performance associated with mass timber construction, as well as the future of mass timber in the construction landscape. Speakers will cover building codes as well as lessons learned through mass timber and CLT projects in the area. We will end the day with a tour of the Apex Energy building in Charlottesville that was designed and built using CLT.
