SUMMARY:The Landscapes of Frank Lloyd Wright
DESCRIPTION:Discover how Frank Lloyd Wright\, usually known solely as an architect\, considered the landscape as an integral element in his work. Mark Bayer\, Bayer Landscape Architects\, PLLC; Stuart Graff\, Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation; Jennifer Gray\, Frank Lloyd Wright Archives\, Columbia University; Justin W. Gunther\, Falling Water; and moderator Stephen Morris\, National Park Service\, discuss how and why the work of Frank Lloyd Wright was sensitively integrated within their natural landscape settings and enhanced by their designed landscapes. The discussion includes several component buildings of the joint Frank Lloyd Wright World Heritage Site announced in 2019 as the first modern architecture designation in the United States\, and the recently restored landscape of the Martin House. \nRegister online.

The goal of presentation is to share some insight into how to better prepare for these potential changes and address what specific moves it takes for you to build\, implement and maintain a solid\, comprehensive retirement and legacy plan that is adaptable\, preemptive\, and well positioned for success given your unique situation. \nEarn 1.0 AIA LU | Elective \nRegister online.

SUMMARY:Let's Start the Climate Take Back
DESCRIPTION:According to research conducted by Interface and Net Impact\, 95% of climate experts believe that it is possible to reverse global warming and 91% of young leaders agree. The reason that both think it is possible is because we have everything we need\, and both think the only thing that stands in our way is business as usual. Last year\, the most comprehensive guide to reversing global warming was introduced by Paul Hawken entitled Drawdown followed by Bruce King™s The New Carbon Architecture. Interface™s ‘Climate Take Back’ plan offers an easy-to-understand framework which can be understood\, adopted\, and implemented by any organization. The research and the framework will be provided to all participants. \nCEU is AIA\, IDCEC\, HSW\, and GBCI approved. \nRegister online and enter the code 4X1Z

SUMMARY:The North Atlantic Cities: A Book Event & Lecture with Author Charles B. Duff
DESCRIPTION:“The North Atlantic Cities” by Charles B. Duff\, which is available for the first time in the United States\, is a book on urban development and urban life masquerading as a book on architecture. It is the story of four hundred years of architecture and urban development in four countries: the Netherlands\, Great Britain\, Ireland and the United States\, particularly cities like New York\, Boston\, Washington D.C.\, Philadelphia\, Baltimore\, Savannah\, to name a few. \nThe author starts with a kind of building few others have considered – the row house\, which could very well be the key to understanding why many of the world’s great cities look and function as they do. From the 1600’s to today as the author theorizes\, this innocuous-seeming housing type is perhaps the antidote to suburban sprawl\, urban decay and the worst catastrophes of global climate change. \nEarn 1.0 AIA LU \nRegister online.
