Modern Richmond’s panel discussion on May 12th at 5:30 PM will focus on Highland Hills, a unique mid-century modern neighborhood in Bon Air, Virginia.
Located 20 minutes from downtown Richmond and built between 1955 and 1959 by local developers Bruce and Jim Sowers, Highland Hills’ original homes were designed by Charles Goodman for National Homes, a Chicago-based manufacturer of pre-fabricated houses.
Moderator Mimi Sadler will share Highland Hills’ history. The panelists, Joseph Dye Lahendro, FAIA and John Burns, FAIA, will discuss the neighborhood’s architecture and compare it with state and national architectural trends along with another Goodman-designed mid-century neighborhood, Hollin Hills in Alexandria, Virginia.
